Abordada questão da proteção jurídica das minorias gays e lésbicas na União Européia e na França, a partir de uma perspectiva mais ampla de proteção concedida às minorias na Europa, demonstrando a adequação dos instrumentos jurídicos tradicionais dos direitos do homem e das liberdades fundamentais para efetivar tal proteção. Discute acerca da maternidade em casais lésbicos, demonstrando que a maternidade não se reduz ao ato de procriar, mas diz respeito ao exercício de determinadas funções na vida de um filho. Ilustra como o desejo de ser mãe é comum tanto às mulheres heterossexuais quanto às mulheres lésbicas.
